Climbing in Kaprun and Zell am See

The track is the target

The unique feeling of freedom in the mountains of Zell am See and Kaprun. Even at the foot of the cliffs in Zell am See and Kaprun you have several opportunities to climb. For more action you can visit the Kitzsteinhorn and only a short walk from the alpine center you will find two awesome climbing areas.

In this area you will find 70 routes in a solid, porous rock in various degrees of difficulty.  Also very popular are the terrain of the “Gletscherseeplatten” with 30 routes in a smoothed rock.

The In- and Outdoor climbing area offers:

  • Outdoor: 120 sq meters climbing area, 4 routes 4-6+, max. height of 12 meters with overhang
  • Indoor: 300 sq meters climbing area, height of 12 meters, 17 climbing lines with 3 routes per line.

Climbers beware!

We also offer guided mountain tours with a certified guide in the region around the Kitzsteinhorn in Kaprun. The summits of the Schmittenhöhe and Maiskogel you can crest on your own or you drive up with the cable car.

The “Gipfelwelt 3000” on the Kitzsteinhorn glacier offers in the summer every day a hike on the top to 3.203 meters with a certified guide for free. Above you will find a unique view of Austria’s highest mountains – including the Grossglockner.
