CLIMBING IN KAPRUN AND SURROUNDINGS

The way is the goal

The unique feeling of freedom in the mountain landscape of Zell am See-Kaprun. Already at the foot of the rock massifs near Zell am See and Kaprun you will find various climbing opportunities. But if you want to go higher, go to the Kitzsteinhorn in Kaprun and there just a few minutes walk from the Alpincenter you will find two outstanding climbing areas.

There you will find 70 routes to choose from in solid, holey greenstone at various levels of difficulty. Very popular are also the terrains of the glacial lake plates with 30 routes in smoothly polished limestone mica schist. Climbing in Kaprun therefore offers a varied program.

With the Kitzsteinhorn mountain and valley ticket to the Alpine Center you can reach the climbing areas Rettenwand and Gletscherseeplatten easily and comfortably.

The indoor and outdoor climbing fun! We offer:

  • Outdoor: 120 m² climbing area, 4 routes from 4 to 6+, max. Height about 12 m with overhang;
  • Indoor: 300 m² climbing area, about 12 meters high and 17 climbing lines with 3 routes per line.

The outdoor climbing wall can be climbed at any time; indoor: open Mon to Fri from 5pm to 10pm, Sat and Sun from 9am to 10pm.

Mountaineers beware!

Arriving at Gipfelwelt 3000 on the Kitzsteinhorn glacier, nothing stands in the way of a guided tour to the summit at 3,203m. This mountain tour takes place daily in summer with free mountain guide. At the top, a unique view of Austria’s highest mountains awaits you – including the Großglockner.
